Wisconsin Town Trademarks ‘Wisconsin’s Winter Capital’
One Wisconsin town wants to make it very clear that they are the winter capital of Wisconsin by trademarking the slogan.
Superior wants to be known as the place for winter fun with a new tourism campaign highlighting the city as 'Snowperior', saying in a press release "Superior, Wisconsin is often overlooked when it comes to outdoor winter activities, yet it boasts the third largest municipal forest in the nation and countless miles of trails for winter fun."
GottaBeSuperior.com is the website for Superior Tourism and the new trademarked slogan is plastered on their official winter page on the site, the site features everything to do in Superior and Douglas County.
Wisconsin’s Winter Capital will use the new campaign to point out the hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails like the Wild Rivers State Trail, Gandy Dancer State Trail, Saunders State Trail, and the popular Tri-County Corridor Trail which takes riders past Amnicon Falls.
The marketing campaign will also encourage visitors to enjoy the miles of cross-country ski trails, hiking trails, snowshoe trails, and of course ice fishing, with no shortage of frozen lakes along with places like the St.Louis River, the Brule, and the Lake Superior harbor.
Superior's popular Lake Superior Ice Festival will also be highlighted during the campaign, their yearly celebration which includes everything from ice sculpting to ice golf happens each January at Barker's Island.
According to stats from 2017, tourists in Douglas County spent $94.5 million on everything from lodging to food.
