The excitement is growing around who fans affectionately call "The Monsters", Duluth's upgraded arena football team.
After a few years as the Duluth Harbor Monsters in "The Arena League", the team has moved into a new league (AF1), a new owner has purchased the team, they've unveiled a new name and logo (Minnesota Monsters), a new head coach taking over the team, and they're moving to AMSOIL Arena for their first season in a new league.
There's clearly a lot to be excited about! To build on that excitement with the 2026 season quickly approaching, the team hosted a public event on Tuesday, March 10 at their new home to unveil some new details and amp up fans for the season ahead.
The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce held an official ribbon-cutting as part of the event to mark the new-look team, new ownership, new venue, and all of the other new things about this team.
New Minnesota Monsters owners Jake and Brianna Lambert, who also own J&B Manufactured Homes in Pine City, shared their excitement for buying the team and introduced the team they've hired to take the team to new heights.
Among the staff the Lamberts hired is team CEO and General Manager, Meadow Lemon, who is of sports royalty. His father, Meadowlark Lemon, was a key piece of the Harlem Globetrotters for many years.
Besides being the son of Meadowlark, Meadow Lemon has a lot of experience in sports marketing and other leadership roles, including with the Harlem Globetrotters.
Meadow welcomed his team to the stage during the event, as they highlighted the team's staff and key sponsors who have made the upcoming season possible. In addition, he welcomed Duluth area Olympic curlers John Shuster, Korey Dropkin, and Cory Thiesse as part of the festivities.
New head coach Daron Clark, who advances from his previous offensive coaching role with the team, brought some returning players onto the stage to unveil the team's new uniforms.
Quarterback Javonte Johnson and "ball-hawk" defensive back Barron Mallory were among the returning names the team is excited to have back for the new season.
Coach Clark also highlighted the 2026 season schedule, which starts with a 4-game road trip before the team's first game at AMSOIL Arena on May 22. Aside from any potential playoff games, the Monsters' 2026 season currently includes 6 home games, mostly later in the season, in the 12-game regular season.
Those home dates include May 22, May 30, June 22, July 5, July 11, and July 18. You can see the entire 2026 season here.

All of the team's games, both home and away, will be broadcast on the Northland FAN, 106.5 FM / 560 AM, and on the station's mobile app and website.
In addition to all of the announcements, the team also hosted a "pick your seat" opportunity to claim seats for the upcoming season's home games in their new home.
