The Real Reason Why The Line At Duluth’s 7 Brew Was So Long On Monday

If you happened to be in the area near the new 7 Brew location in Duluth on Labor Day, you probably saw a ridiculously long line.

At one point, traffic was seen out of the shop's driveway, out onto Anderson Road, and wrapping out onto Central Entrance.

The line of cars to go to the coffee shop extended beyond a quarter of a mile at times, and wait times for those in line exceeded a couple of hours at a few points.

The traffic was so wild that the City of Duluth acknowledged it, saying they are looking for solutions to the congestion in the area.

While there has been increased traffic in the area of the intersection of Anderson Road and Central Entrance where 7 Brew opened in Duluth in mid-August, this line wasn't just because the shop is new and people wanted a Labor Day jolt of caffeine from the new spot in town.

Adding to the already troublesome traffic at times from the new 7 Brew just being open after the hype before starting to serve customers, locations around the country saw similar long lines and traffic issues on Labor Day.

The reason? A collectible toy giveaway promotion.

7 Brew locations around the country, including the one in Duluth, participated in a "Brew Doh" giveaway from 7 am until 7 pm on Labor Day. A "Brew Doh" is a small squishy collectible toy much like the viral NeeDoh sensory toys that are popular on TikTok.

The promotion offered two different designs, and you could get a free one if you bought any two medium or large drinks.

Well, the promotion was wildly successful, with police departments dealing with traffic issues all over the country as people waited in very long lines to get the 7 Brew version of these squishy toys.

Duluth's 7 Brew reportedly ran out of Brew Doh toys by around 3:30 pm, a few hours before the promotion was set to wrap up. The craze over these toys has people selling them on eBay, with some listings for these free toys being sold for anywhere from $40 to $150.

The City of Duluth responded to the aggressively long lines on Mondays, suggesting it was due to the Duluth location's grand opening, which happened in August.

While this promotion, which brought traffic chaos to nearly every 7 Brew in the country, is now over, there are still traffic issues to contend with in the area.

While the lines generally are not as long and persistent as they were on Monday, the opening of Duluth's 7 Brew has created challenges for people who just need to travel along Anderson Road, which is where the driveway to the coffee shop is located.

The City of Duluth's engineering team is exploring solutions to these traffic challenges, though it is likely these lines will slowly diminish as the newness of this coffee shop fades.
