Drama recently unfolded in a Michigan Police Department involving two officers and a missing sandwich. You'd think you could trust your coworkers, especially when they're fellow officers, but there seem to be shenanigans afoot here.

The fun drama began earlier this month when the Wyandotte Police Department went to Facebook to share details of a case they were trying to crack involving Officer Barwig and K9 Officer Ice.

Here are the basic details of this case:

The incident happened two days ago at the station. Ofc. Barwig was eating lunch in the breakroom when he was called to assist with a person in the WPD jail. He quickly jumped into service, leaving his half-eaten lunch on the table. A short while later Barwig and another officer returned to the breakroom only to find Ofc. Ice leisurely strolling out of the room licking his chops. Barwig's entire lunch was gone....disappeared, vanished!

With tongue firmly in cheek, they added that Ofc. Ice had invoked his fifth amendment right to remain silent and he was not cooperating with the investigation. They added that he has a history of rummaging through trash cans that are within his reach and there have been several past accusations of him taking food right from the hands of other coworkers.

Despite a good deal of circumstantial evidence here, the Wyandotte Police Department said they would let the comments of their Facebook followers help them determine how to proceed with this case.

Personally, I felt that if Officer Ice were forced to stand trial, he wouldn't get a fair shake. I would hope the judge would throw him a bone and let him get out of the spotlight and by being tried in Minnesota.

Needless to say, they've received plenty of feedback on this, and on January 18 they announced their decision:

We have been threatened with massive protests if we move forward with our investigation and/or charges.
Plus the overall public just doesn’t believe he is guilty. No video has been produced.
That being said Ofc Ice will not face any internal discipline or criminal charges.

Not only is K9 Ice off the hook, but a local business even decided to feed his addiction by dropping off a custom-made sandwich because they felt like he wasn’t being fed enough. They also provided lunch for all the Wyandotte officers.
