Popular Grandma’s Marathon Races Series Kicks Off In January

It may seem far off but Grandma's Marathon weekend will be here before you know it! However, even if your training hasn't started just yet, that doesn't mean that your kids can't get in on the action.

A popular race series held by Grandma's Marathon kicks off this Saturday, the first of the year. What a great way to start the new year.

In case you missed it, kids can now gain free entry into five of the most popular Grandma's Marathon races in the new year in honor of the 50th anniversary. It's always the best weekend of the year!

You can get their feet wet by having them take part in the Saturday Morning At The Races series, kicking off on January 3rd.

All About The 'Saturday Morning At The Races' Series

This is for kids up to fourteen years old. All races are free and open to the public. It is encouraged that you pre-register your child for the event online but you can also show up and register on the same day starting at 9 a.m.

The races will be staggered by age group, starting with the youngest group and moving to the oldest. It should also be noted that different age groups will run different distances, with distances ranging from 1/8 of a mile to 1/2 a mile.

Schedule For The 'Saturday Morning At The Races' Series

The first of the series will kick off at the College of St. Scholastica at 10 a.m. in the Burns Wellness Commons, located at 1200 Kenwood Avenue. There will be a race the following Saturday at the University of Minnesota Duluth at the Ward Wells Fieldhouse, located at 1228 University Drive.

The third race in the series will take place at the University of Wisconsin-Superior at the Marcovich Wellness Center, located at 1810 Catlin Avenue. Happy racing - and here's to an amazing year of races in 2026!
