A Saturday At Enger Tower Turned Me Into An Accidental Tour Guide

One of the nice things about living in the Twin Ports is hosting guests and showing them around our beautiful area. When you live here, it's easy to take it for granted. But seriously, we have some pretty awesome stuff to show off in Duluth.

Last Saturday I took them out to do some touristy things in Duluth. We went to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and spent a couple of hours there. We drove around Downtown, Park Point, and then ended up in the Lincoln Park Craft District. We stopped at Bent Paddle to pick up a growler and then tried some cider at Wild State. After we left, my friend Ryan asked what that tower is on top of the hill.

Of course, this means we need to take a detour, so we took the quick drive up Piedmont to Skyline Parkway and then up to Enger Park. There was a wedding going on at the park, and it was extra busy. We ended up having to park down the road and walk all the way up the hill, then make the 80-foot climb up the tower. Still, it was worth it.

There were a lot of tourists that Saturday. We got to the top of the tower just as a boat was turning to go out under the lift bridge. It took some time, and I overheard quite a few questions from tourists. It seemed I was the only local there, so I became an honorary tour guide. Here's what they wanted to know.
