It's always a shame when someone takes it upon themselves to damage public property, and it's even worse when it includes hateful words and symbols.

Unfortunately, that's what happened recently in the city of Cloquet and now authorities have reached out to the public for help catching those responsible.

Hopefully, this gets spread throughout social media and someone can set up with helpful information.

According to authorities, surfaces on the ATV trail, bridge support, and bridge surface had been damaged with blue spray paint with symbols and language that could be interpreted as biased or hateful in nature.

While they don't know the day and time the damage occurred, they believe it happened sometime between Sunday evening and Tuesday morning.

City of Cloque Public Works staff began cleaning up the damage as soon as it was brought to their attention and now the Cloquet Police Department wants to catch those responsible so they can be held accountable.

Anyone with helpful information or tips related to whom may have done this should call 911, message the Cloquet Police Department Facebook page, or text TIP CLOQUETPD, followed by your message to 888777.
