City Of Superior Hosting Tree Lighting Event + Features Artwork From Last Year’s Tree
This is a pretty cool thing! The City of Superior has its Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony set at Center City Park for Friday, November 24th. The park is located at the corner of Belknap Street and Tower Avenue.
The city urges people to dress warmly and come out and celebrate the season. Mayor Paine will be lighting the tree and kickstarting the festivities.
Santa and his elves will be coming, and there will be holiday music, treats, and hot beverages. They'll also have fire pits onsite to help keep attendees warm.
This is a new tree this year because last year's tree wasn't healthy and needed to be retired.
Another cool aspect of this tree lighting ceremony is that Superior High School's Spartan Manufacturing has designed and created ornaments from the wood harvested from last year's holiday tree. They will be available to purchase for $5 and the proceeds go to the Ryan Hoff Memorial Youth Foundation. The foundation helps provide gifts and support children and families in need during the holiday season.
The following day, is small business Saturday. The tree lighting ceremony helps kick off the shopping season and encourages people to shop locally and shop small.
Last year's holiday tree was not only used for the ornaments but also used to create a carving. It's a great way to recycle the old tree, and the new carving will be unveiled at the event.
Join the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 5:00 P.m. at the Center City Park in downtown Superior.
