This Ridiculous Canoe Movie Is Coming To Duluth
Well, I've seen everything now. I came across a trailer for a movie called "Canoe Dig It." It was ridiculous, and it made me do a double take. Turns out it's a mockumentary about freestyle canoeing. What's even stranger is that the sport is real, and people take it very seriously. That's what makes this mockumentary even better.
What Is Freestyle Canoeing?
This is a real sport. It involves paddling a choreographed routine to music. It requires perfect balance and coordination to control the canoe to the selected music. Here is a real-life demonstration from 2007. Way to go, Marc!
I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh at the golf clap after his first major move. But hey, we all have hobbies, right? If you love canoeing and being on the water, maybe this is for you.
Indie Mockumentary "Canoe Dig It?"
The indie mockumentary "Can You Dig It?" was filmed in New England. Because of our rich canoeing traditions here in the Midwest, filmmakers have brought the movie to special screenings in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Upcoming events on the Midwest tour include stops at Ely's Historic State Theater on September 8, the Rivoli Theater in LaCrosse on September 13th, the Micon Cinemas in Eau Claire on September 14th, Zeitgeist Cinemas in Duluth on September 19-20, and the St. Michael Cinemas on September 19-21.

Filmmaker Samuel Dunning will be attending some of the screenings with Q&A sessions. He says fans of "Best In Show" and other mockumentaries will enjoy it.
Judging by the trailer, I think he's right. It looks pretty hilarious.
