This is a great way to give back to the community. The first ever Battle Of The Badges Blood Drive is coming to Duluth. A little friendly competition never hurt anybody although it does go against the whole 'Minnesota nice' thing!

When Is It?

This is a blood drive coming up on Wednesday, April 17th. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can sign up for a time slot during that hour online. Act fast as spots are already filling up!

There has been a blood shortage of sorts over the past few years so not only are you helping out a great cause but you can have a little fun while doing so by being part of this blood drive competition.

Where Is It?

The blood drive will take place at 4505 West Michigan Street. Just look for the 'Bloodmobile' - it will be hard to miss! This is being put on by Memorial Bloods Centers. If you can't make it, you can make a monetary donation.

When you give blood, you will have the choice between three teams: Team Police, Team Fire or Team Mayo. As mentioned, this is a competition so your contributions to a team will really help them battle it out.

Even if you can't make it to this particular blood drive, you can always give blood on your own time. If you are able, you could save a life. Here are some requirements of giving blood, per Memorial Blood Centers:

  • In good health
  • At least 17 years old or 16 with parental consent
  • At least 110 pounds
  • Symptom free for at least 72 hours following the cold or flu

There are also other common reasons why someone may not be able to donate, some of which are temporary. Before arriving to the blood drive or scheduling an appointment, you can brush up on some of them online.
