The Husky Superior Refinery is in the process of a major rebuild, and a very large piece of that project is being delivered.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reports that a "mega-load" traveling from Oklahoma City is set to arrive at the Husky Superior Refinery today, the cargo is a large energy tower.

The tower is sitting on 156 tires spread out over 24 axles and the total load weighs in at 700,000 pounds! The convoy of 17 crew members and an assortment of vehicles departed Oklahoma City on October 25th on its way to Superior at a max speed of 35 MPH.

The more than 1,600-mile journey through 6 states has been in the works for over a year, according to The Wisconsin Department of Transportation "Executing a shipment of this size is an example of great teamwork between WisDOT, private industry and municipal partners to safely and efficiently bring goods into Wisconsin."
