Ground Beef Processor Recalls 15 Tons Of Product

A ground beef processor has issued a recall notice for more than 15 tons of their product.  Washington Beef, LLC is the processor of the prepackaged chubs of ground beef that are sold in stores nationwide under a variety of brand names and labels.

The recall us due to extraneous materials that could potentially be contaminating the meat.  The packages were processed on December 27, 2018, and include a “Use or Freeze by” date of 01/20/19.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, there have been no known reactions in conjunction with the ground beef.  The recall was instigated by discovery of the material in one of the chubs on February 28.

The products being recalled by Washington Beef, LLC include the following brand names:

  • Double R Ranch 100% Ground Beef
  • St. Helens 100% Ground Beef
  • SRF American Wagyu Beef Fine Ground Beef
  • Boneless Ground Chuck Blend Smoked

Consumers are urged to check their freezers as the product has been in available in stores since the end of December.  If you have any of the beef chubs being recalled, you’re advised to  throw them away or return them to the store you purchased them at.
