Grandma’s Marathon Announces New Way To Register For Half Marathon
Grandma's Marathon announced they will now offer registration for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon on a first come first served basis. Due to runner input over the years the marathon decided to change the way people get into the race. This means that if you want to run the half marathon, you need to register right away.
This will start with the 2018 registration and the first 7,500 participants beginning October 1, 2017 at 5 p.m. CDT. In previous years, registration for the 13.1-mile race has been conducted via a lottery in which participants were randomly selected The 28th annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 6:15 a.m., and is run on the second half of the Grandma’s Marathon course.
Registration for the 2018 Grandma’s Marathon Weekend, which includes Grandma’s Marathon, the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and William A. Irvin 5K, will open at 5 p.m. CDT on October 1, 2017. This is the third year that registration for all three races will open on the same day.
Entries for next year’s Grandma’s Marathon will be taken on a first come, first registered basis until the race reaches 9,000 participants. The 25th annual William A. Irvin 5K is limited to the first 2,000 participants to register.
Those looking for the ultimate race experience are invited to take the Great Grandma’s Challenge, which pairs the 5K with either the full or half marathon. Registration for the Great Grandma’s Challenge is limited to the first 500 individuals for each race and will also be available starting October 1.
