Minnesota is operating under the new 'Stay Safe' order, but questions remained on what would happen with restaurants, bars and more on June 1.  We now have that answer.

Minnesota Governor Walz announced Wednesday that there will be a phased in approach to reopening various business and social settings.

Beginning June 1, bars and restaurants will be allowed to open under specific guidelines:

  • Outdoor seating is mandatory, no indoor seating will be allowed.
  • 6 feet of distance must be maintained between tables
  • Outdoor seating environment must not exceed 50 customers
  • Reservations are required
  • Masks will be required for workers and strongly recommended for customers

When it comes to personal services such as salons, barbershops and tattoos, they will also be allowed to open under strict guidelines:

  • Maximum capacity must not exceed of 25%
  • 6 feet of distance must be maintained
  • Masks are required for both workers and all customers

Another change on June 1 is that campgrounds and charter boat services will be allowed, with guidance from the state based on Minnesota Department of Health recommendations.

Youth day camps will continue to be allowed, but no youth sports games will be allowed as of yet.

There is a Stay Safe MN Phase III listed on the state's official COVID-19 website, but no dates are set for when that phase will be allowed to begin.

Gov. Walz says he cannot commit to a date for future phases as we must first see how things play out with the 'Stay Safe' order and the activation of Phase II on June 1.
