Another sure sign of spring in the Northland is when Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet is once again for the season. Not only have they announced their 2021 opening date, but they're also hiring for both Gordy's Hi-Hat and Gordy's Warming House.

Gordy's used a fun photo on their official Facebook page to announce their opening date, which is set for Wednesday, March 24.

They had previously announced that they were hiring for all positions for the upcoming season. Anyone interested in joining their team should head to Gordy's, located at 411 Sunnyside Drive in Cloquet, on Saturday, March 6 between 9:00 a.m. and Noon.  Gordy's management will not only accept applications that morning, but they'll also conduct on-the-spot interviews with applicants.

According to their website, Gordy & Marilyn built Gordy’s Hi-Hat in Cloquet in 1960, so this will mark their 61st season. They pride themselves on doing things the same popular way every year, with "fresh hand-pattied hamburgers, home-made onion rings, fresh hand-dipped fish, and fresh blended shakes."

The website adds that Gordy and Marilyn, both in their 80’s, are still active in the business. They live 6 months in Sarasota, Florida, and return every spring to Gordy's Hi-Hat to enjoy another season.

Personally, while I've enjoyed the variety of burgers on the menu, I especially love the fish sandwich. It's a large portion and once you add the onion rings and shake, you definitely won't leave hungry.  In fact you may not be hungry for days!

Gordy's traditionally opens early spring each season and then remains open until well into September or early October.
