Gander Mountain Store Closures Expected For Bankrupt Chain; What Will The Future Hold For The Duluth Location?
Gander Mountain has a new owner! The bankrupt Minnesota-based chain that specializes in outdoor gear has been bought out by a reality TV star. According to gomn.com, Camping World - a company owned by Marcus Lemonis - has purchased Gander Mountain for $37.8 million.
While the move brings a path to financial footing for the store, industry experts speculate that it will surely bring about a new round of location closures.
Lemonis is probably best known for his role on the TV show The Profit. However, he has built an impressive portfolio of companies - from bakeries to automobile search products.
Gander Mountain currently operates a store in Duluth on Haines Road. Minnesota is also home to Gander Mountain locations in Brainerd, St. Cloud, Mankato, Rochester, and 6 stores in the Twin Cities metro. At this time nothing is known about what potential stores could be closing.
