Free Tax Prep Help From Multiple Sources In Superior + Douglas County
April 15 will be here before you know it. Although some people do their own taxes - whether by hand or with the help of prep software online, many people choose to get some help from someone. Usually that help comes with a visit to a tax professional - which isn't necessarily cheap.
But there are other options. And, those options could be free to you.
Residents who live in Superior or Douglas County can take advantage of a variety of different free sources for tax preparation help. Two of those sources are in-person, and another is an online model.
The Superior Public Library is a tax resource - providing the forms, instruction booklets, and more needed to do your taxes by hand if you want. They also have computers with internet access available to library patrons; you only need a library card to access and use them.
Additionally - the Superior Public Library is once again the location for AARP Tax Aide. This service provides free in-person tax preparation appointments that are available for anyone. There are no income or age requirements in order to take part. However you do need to register and make an advance appointment; walk ins are no allowed. Then, according to the Superior Telegram [paywall], "[t]axes will be prepared by appointment on Mondays and Thursdays, February 6 through April 6, from noon to 4:00 PM".
