Food Club Garlic Powder Recall

A voluntary recall has been issued on a popular store-brand of seasoning.  B&G Foods has announced that they are recalling specific containers of their Food Club Garlic Powder due to undeclared allergen concerns.  These specific containers of garlic powder mistakenly contain bacon-flavored bits - which contain soy - an allergen that isn't declared on the label.

According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, the recall stems from 1,301 cases of bacon-flavored bits - which contain soy - were inadvertently labeled as garlic powder.  "Containers labeled as Food Club Bacon Flavored Bits correctly indicate that the containers include bacon-flavored bits and correctly declare the presence of soy".

There have been no known allergic reactions or medical issues associated with the garlic powder at this time.  The recall was initiated in cooperation with the FDA.

It should be pointed out that the containers that include the recalled product has clear packaging, and it should be relatively easy and apparent for consumers to see that issue.  However, out of an abundance of caution, B&G Foods is issuing the voluntary recall for containers of Food Club Garlic Powder with the specific "best by" dates listed below:

• UPC #:  0-36800-38295-4
• Size:  5.37 ounces (152 grams)
• Best By Dates:  "NOV 19 22" or "NOV 20 22".  Dates are located at the bottom of the container
