Additional Information

The program will feature SCS member, Ulla Gustafsson-Carlson, who will reminisce with us about growing up in a hospital in Sweden and some of the joys and trials she experienced moving to the US. She will explain what was required to get a professional job in her field here, the troubles she had getting the required fingerprints and lung x-rays taken, and transcript issues. She will relate her feelings about starting a new life, a new job, and a new family in a new land. An experienced storyteller, Ulla has many funny experiences to share, such as how she learned what “Kicked the Bucket” meant as well as sharing some touching and heartfelt moments. A question/answer period will follow the presentation.

Ulla has chosen some of her favorite Swedish songs for us to sing and President Jennifer Conboy will accompany on the violin.

As always, fika (coffee and treats) will be served.

Save the afternoon of March 17th to enjoy a real-life, fascinating story of immigration.

Visitors are always welcome!
