Echo Trail (Highway 116) Timber Bridge Replacement To Affect Traffic Starting August 27
Don't they know it's blueberry season?
Road work will affect traffic starting tomorrow (August 27) on County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 116 - more commonly known as the Echo Trail. Crews from Saint Louis County will be working to replace a wood timber bridge that has served drivers well since 1956. As road crews determined that it has met its age-limits, a decision was made to replace it this summer.
Specifically, the Echo Trail will be closed at the project site where the bridge crosses the Moose River - approximately 18 miles northwest of Ely. Detour signs will be posted, directing travelers to use Forest Road - also known as the Moose Loop - as an alternative route.
The $765,000 project is expected to be complete sometime in November.
