Unfortunately, the holidays are a ripe time for criminals to target unsuspecting individuals.  The Duluth Police are warning about a new scam making its rounds that leans on the delivery of Christmas gifts as its base.

The scam works like this:  Victims receive an email notification that looks real - from a delivery service (like Fed Ex, UPS, etc.) with a subject line that suggests that they tried to deliver a package to your address but were unable to for some reason.  In the body of the email, they request additional (more personal) information from you - or - they request that you click a link to another site;  once you click in, the website delivers a virus or spyware onto your computer.

Authorities like the Duluth Police ask that individuals always use common sense when responding (or not responding) to these email solicitations.
