Duluth Airshow Reveals 2022 Date Featuring Air Force Thunderbirds
With the 2021 Duluth Airshow barely in the rearview mirror, organizers have already announced the dates for the 2022 Duluth Airshow, which will featuring another marquee headliner for all to enjoy.
The Duluth Airshow made the official announcement July 2 on their Facebook page that the 2022 show will feature the Air Force Thunderbirds! The Air Force Thunderbirds have a storied history:
On May 25, 1953, just six years after the U.S. Air Force became its own branch of service, the Thunderbirds were born as the Air Force’s official air demonstration team. The team, designated the 3600th Air Demonstration Unit, was activated at Luke AFB, Arizona. Over the years and with many different aircraft, the Thunderbirds have continued to represent those who deserve the most credit: the hardworking Airmen who serve our country every day.
The Air Force Thunderbirds feature eight enlisted Airmen who serve as pilots and four who who serve in roles such as medical support, public affairs, etc. All told, there are more than 120 enlisted members covering around 30 different career fields who represent the "backbone" of their team. It is truly a top-shelf organization and a must-see next summer in Duluth!
The Duluth Airshow also announced the 2022 event will be held a little later into the summer than the 2021 Duluth Airshow, with next years show scheduled for July 16 and July 17.
