Did The Rolling Stones Just Leak Details About Their Next Album: “Hackney Diamonds?”

I stare at a lot of screens during the course of a typical day, and poke around online like everyone else. I can't say I read the UK's Hackney Gazette on a daily basis, but this time around I'm making an exception.

Recently, an advertisement placed in my new favorite gazette seemed to hint at something larger than shattered windows. "Hackney Diamonds" is local British slang for the little shards of glass after car or store windows are shattered in a robbery, and there are other clues in this ad that require investigation.

Established 1962? Wait, a little rock band called The Rolling Stones kicked off that year.

OK. Gimme Shelter is a bit of a tip off. And "Our friendly team promises you satisfaction"? Wait a second. But what if I can't get any satisfaction? And the font for Hackney Diamonds looks suspiciously like the style used in the Stone's 1978 album, "Some Girls". Something (big) is up.

What we have here is an accumulation of coincidences, and smart money says that their new album will be called "Hackney Diamonds". Take it to the bank.

Remember, Mick Jagger is 80 years old. He has 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Rumor has it he got around. And stating the obvious: the Rolling Stones probably have enough money in the bank - but they still love to perform and delight audiences around the planet. They will keep going until they can't keep going.

If, in fact, this stealthy, tongue-in-cheek advertisement in the Hackney Gazette is a semi-official announcement of an upcoming album, it will be the first since "Blue and Lonesome" back in 2016. And I keep hearing rumors that Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney may collaborate on an album in the near future.

The extended outlook calls for new music and in all probability - more amazing music!
