National treasure Cyndi Lauper knows a thing or two about what girls really want, and it's not all just about having fun. No, sir — when the working day is done, girls just want equal funds. Appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden on May 9 to promote her new country album, Detour, the iconic '80s pop star teamed up with the music-loving late night TV host for a special duet of her classic ladies' anthem, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun."

With the lyrics edited to make the tune about less about partying until the morning light and more about breaking down the wage gap between men and women in the workforce, Lauper and Corden put pay inequality on blast, pop parody-style. Watch below:

"I come home in the morning light / My mother says, ‘Why don’t you make the same as a guy?" Lauper, bouncing onstage with the fury of a thousand women scorned by their paychecks, crooned in her bombastic squeal. "Oh mama dear, we’re not the fortunate ones / 'Cause girls, they want equal funds!"

Joining her — in the same outfit, no less, and a fluffy pink wig that would make even Sia jealous — Corden threw his two cents in, lampooning the old misogynistic belief that if a woman is upset, she must be on her period: "Guys if she's mad it's not PMS / It's 'cause you do the same job but she's making less / Don't need no Midol, just need more income / 'Cause girls, they want equal funds."

Preach.
