Here’s your chance to make a difference in the community!  Applications are being taken for the Superior Police Department’s 12th annual Citizens Police Academy.  The Academy will begin on Wednesday, September 18th.

By completing the application, citizens are expressing a desire to spend time with many Superior Police Officers who are interested in showing you how the police department operates within our community.  This program will not only provide you with a great deal of information, but will also give you hands-on experience in many law enforcement related topics.

Classes will be held every Wednesday from 6:00 to 10:00 PM at the Superior Police Department.  They’ll also meet on one Saturday, from 8:00 AM until Noon to demonstrate and involve you in practical exercises.  Graduation will be held on November 6th.

Applicants can be nominated by the Chief of Police, other members of the Superior Police Department, City of Superior Administration, or candidates may apply on their own to the program.  In order to qualify, applicants must be at least 21 years of age and reside or work in Superior.  They also must agree to a simple background check investigation, with no previous felony convictions or habitual violations of the law.  Participants should also be persons of good standing in our community.

All applications must be returned to the Superior Police Department by September 6th.  Class size is limited to 25 students.  Applicants that are selected will be notified in writing.

Applications can be found on the City of Superior’s website:  http://www.ci.superior.wi.us/ .
