City in Wisconsin Bans Snowballs For Public Safety
Apparently it is illegal to throw snowballs in some parts of Wausau Wisconsin. According to the latest demographics form July 2019 the estimated population of Wausau is 38,580 people. It is not a major metropolitan area but still has quite a few residents compared to a super small town.
According to FOX6 "The ordinance in place says that you can’t throw snowballs anywhere on public property — not on sidewalks, city streets, or at school. If you do, you could be fined. Snowballs are lumped in with missiles, rocks, and arrows, none of which are you allowed to throw in Wausau."
Wausau Mayor Robert B. Mielke said “It’s really in the interest of public safety. A lot of it is just consideration and common sense. You don’t throw stuff at people, period."
I really honestly cannot believe that this is an actual ordinance. I guess all snowball fights need to be reserved for private property only and be careful that all the snowballs stay in your yard or else. Apparently no fines have actually been issued since the ordinance took effect a few years ago, because I am sure no police officer wants to be the first one to do it either.
