More and more Children go hungry in the summertime. Whenever I hear stories about pets and children, I automatically put my pet and child into the story. Now it's a family thing, and I think I could be in that group very fast. Families are lining up to do a night time shop in the food shelves. The challenge has become bigger for all food shelves but especially for CHUM.

When children are home from school during the summer months, families often need more resources to fill empty plates.  What food is needed most? Pears, fruit cocktail, pineapple, mandarin oranges, chicken noodle & cream of mushroom soup, peanut butter, tuna, spam, Spaghettios, chili, stew, chunky soups, Pasta sides, rice-a-roni & ramen, cold cereal, pork and beans.

The CHUM Food Shelf needs your help to provide for struggling families by donating in July and all year round for that matter. Everyone remembers to give around the holidays but really the need is greater, especially for families, in the summer. Today, the food shelf distributes 230,000 pounds of food annually and serves nearly 460 households with emergency food each month. Thirty seven percent (37%) of those they serve are children.

Imagine your child being hungry. Families are doing what they can, but between working and trying to provide it's harder, and more families are in need.
