Cheese Brine Replaces Salt on Wisconsin Highways
For the first time, Milwaukee will be using cheese brine instead of salt to treat it's highways. If it works out well, the use of cheese brine will spread throughout Wisconsin.
Since cheese brine is expensive to dispose of, using it to treat winter roads is a smart move. It will also save taxpayer dollars as it's far cheaper to use cheese bring than rock salt.
If cheese brine is proven effective, it will not be replacing salt altogether, instead it will be used in conjunction with salt. Still, it should provide safer roads and a savings to both the cheese makers and taxpayers.
