Caribou Coffee Data Breach Affects Northland Customers
If you purchase something from Caribou Coffee since the end of this past summer, head up: The company has announced that it was the victim of a computer hack job that left customers credit card numbers and security data breached. 265 stores were involved in the months-long data breach - including locations in Hibbing and the Twin Ports.
According to the Data Security Notice released by Caribou Coffee, all four of the Duluth locations (Stoneridge, Canal Park, Miller Hill Mall, and Super Valu) and the store in Hibbing are part of the situation that occurred between August 28 and December 3. Specifically, "customers who made a purchase with a credit or debit card between August 28 and December 3 may have had their name, credit card number, expiration date and security code stolen."
Not all purchases are included in the data breach. News reports show that
Payments made through the Caribou Coffee Perks account or other loyalty accounts were not affected. Likewise not affected were catering orders placed online with sister brands under corporate owner JAB Holding Company: Bruegger's Bagels, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Manhattan Bagel and Noah's NY Bagels.
Caribou Coffee has shared that they are working to investigate the situation.
Customers who believe they may have been breached - or those who have questions can call the hotline number that Caribou Coffee established just for this data breach: 1-877-698-3760.
