The on-going repair work on the Blatnik Bridge will switch courses - and directions - on Wednesday, September 14.  On that date the southbound lanes that had been closed to traffic will re-open and the northbound lanes will close for approximately four weeks.  In addition, one southbound lane at the center of the span will remain closed to traffic to lessen the weight load.

According to officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, they anticipate that the lane restriction on the center span of the southbound lanes will create backups and motorists should anticipate delays even though the "to Superior" direction has opened back up.

Similar to the detour that was in place during the work on the southbound lanes, drivers are being routed to the Bong Bridge to get to Superior.

Summer 2016 work on the Blatnik Bridge is anticipated to be completed by the middle of October.
