Best Winter Destinations List Doesn’t Include Anywhere In Wisconsin Or Minnesota
Wallethub has released the best cold and warm destinations in the United States for winter travel, and there are some missing northern cities from the list.
The surprising part of the Wallethub report is that there are not any locations for Minnesota and Wisconsin listed. I have seen this list before and wonder why there is always St. Paul or Minneapolis listed on the top 10, but never Duluth with all we have to offer and all the attractions in the winter months. Minneapolis showed up at number 12.
I don't know why Madison or Milwaukee aren't named on this list either. I know Superior is considered a smaller town, but if you include what both sides of the bridge have to offer, Superior could be a location too. Milwaukee shows up at number 25, and it is so near Chicago that makes it in the top 10.
The part that I think is a big mistake is what appears at number 1. Here's the list of Best Cold Destinations for Winter Travel on Wallethub.
- Atlanta, GA
- Washington, DC
- New York, NY
- St. Louis, MO
- Albuquerque, NM
Albuquerque? It's in the Southeast! It's not a cold location. St. Louis and New York, are cold locations and they have snow, and being that they are large cities, they probably have a lot to do and have good snow removal machines so that you can enjoy the area. Washington, DC, is also a cold-weather location, and you can enjoy the decorations at all the landmarks that celebrate America. Number 1, Atlanta? What? Not a cold-weather location, c'mon, pick somewhere up North.
With all the cold weather cities that could have been added to that list in the top positions. The good news is if a person wanted to visit Minneapolis or St. Paul for a Winter Holiday, the travel costs were the best in America according to the study.
According to Wallethub, they used these things to determine and make this list.
- Travel Costs & Hassles,
- Local Costs,
- Attractions,
- Weather,
- Activities
- Safety.
There were some other points but overall, I was disappointed that more Northern cities didn't make the list.
