Be Part Of The Frozen Fun With The Duluth Polar Plunge In February
This winter has started off on a wicked foot at least in my book, with our big storm in December and obviously much more snow and cold to come. But with that comes the time of the year that brings out, the bold and the brave who know how to have a good time. Yes Polar Plungers I am talking about you! If you have never plunged before this is your year. The Plunge is Saturday February 15 at 2:00pm!
Ask anyone who has ever plunged and they will tell you the whole experience is a blast and is definitely a badge of honor to have done it. I have seen so many of the same teams or individuals come back year after year because it is so fun and is a kind of family. Yes the water is cold, no kidding, but every year the team from Special Olympics along with the Duluth Police Department, Fire Department, and St. Louis County Rescue Squad do what they can to be as accommodating as possible. With a heated chute out to the lake and warming tents to change in plus a warm school bus waiting to bring you back to Grandmas Sports Garden, you will be set.
All of the proceeds from the event go to Special Olympics of Minnesota for this particular area. Your money stays locally and helps fund some fantastic programs for these amazing athletes. You also can be part of the pre-party and after party at Grandmas Sports Garden where there is great music, food and tons of prizes to be given away too. The Duluth Plunge has raised over $1,959,000 in its 18-year history and in 2019, 663 Plungers raised $216,694! Let's go for 700 plungers this year.
