As you decorate the tree or the house this Christmas, the Saint Louis County Law Enforcement Chaplains are asking you to show your support for those officers and deputies that keep us safe.  The group is asking you to incorporate blue lights into your decorations as a call for peace and a show of support.

According to Father John Petrich, a chaplain with the St. Louis County Law Enforcement Chaplain’s Association:

“The color blue has long been associated with law enforcement, but the color is also a symbol of peace.  And it seems there has never been a better time to show our support for law enforcement and our desire for peace in our lives and community."

Project Blue Light has been around since 1989 - spurred as an idea by a woman whose son-in-law - a police officer - had been killed in the line of duty and whose daughter had died in a car accident.  It was later adopted by the group Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) as a way to honor the officers who continue to serve, and to remember departed law enforcement across the country.
