148th Fighter Wing to Conduct Flyover in Duluth to Honor 9/11 Anniversary
It's hard to believe it's already been twenty years since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Like everyone else, I can picture where I was that morning perfectly in my mind.
I was working in radio and heard our morning show make mention of a plane hitting the World Trade Center. At the time, it was odd and the thought was it was a smaller plane with perhaps a pilot that had an inflight emergency. I decided to turn on the TV to find footage.
It was shortly thereafter when the 2nd plane stuck and I knew right away this was something really bad. I went straight to the radio station. As things unfolded, there was shock, sadness, anger and confusion.
We must never forget that day. With the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 happening this year there will be many ceremonies and tributes to honor the victims and events of that fateful day, including a 4-ship F-16 flyover in Duluth by the 148th Fighter Wing.
The 148th Fighter Wing will actually conduct four flyovers across Minnesota on September 11. They announced their schedule on their Facebook page:
- Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs 9/11 Observation at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul 9:20am
- University of Minnesota Duluth Military Appreciation football game at Malosky Stadium @ 5:25pm
- Minnesota Twins 9/11 Observation at Target Field @ 6:08pm

If you're not going to the UMD game, then you'll just want to be near Malosky Stadium by 5:25 p.m. Saturday. Malosky Stadium is located at 1336 University Drive, on the UMD campus.
