Regulating rental housing has been a hot topic in Duluth the last few years.  The Twin Ports area has a high-level of rental units and many are nestled in among traditional, owner-occupied housing.  Some have suggested that the city strengthen their ordinances in regards to rentals.

A public meeting coming up on Thursday, January 21 will allow both sides the chance to voice their opinions. This engagement is the second in a series of ongoing meetings discussing the current vacation dwelling unit ordinance and to consider revising and/or including additional standards to provide a balanced approach in regulating short-term rentals. The meeting will include a staff presentation on concepts developed from research and public comments compiled from the previous meeting.

The meeting will happen on January 21 from 3:30 to 5:00 PM in Room 303 in the City Hall:  411 West First Street.

Advance questions about the forum can be directed to John Kelley in the City's Planning Division:  218-730-5326.
