Rock history is full of stories about songs that only became hit records after a few strange twists of fate — a rich tradition that apparently includes Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back in Town."
Def Leppard's Joe Elliott will produce the sophomore record by Black Star Riders, a band featuring former members of Thin Lizzy. Elliott previously worked on the 2011 reissue of Thin Lizzy's 1976 classic 'Jailbreak' album. The Def Leppard singer also produced the first two solo albums by Black Star Riders' Ricky Warwick, who joined Thin Lizzy as vocalist in 2010.
We are just a little over a month away from the debut release from the Black Star Riders. If the name doesn't immediately ring some bells, the group has some real weight in its ranks. The band is comprised of Ricky Warwick, Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson and Marco Mendoza, all of whom are also members of Thin Lizzy. The band is rounded out by Jimmy DeGrasso on drums.
Longtime Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham is readying the publication of his musical memoir, and although readers in the UK will be able to buy it next Monday (Nov. 12), American fans will have to wait a few extra months.
