Now that all schools will be in session next Tuesday, parents are celebrating that the kids are back in school and out of the house. These parents wrote and performed a song for teachers and bus drivers and talk about the challenges of buying school supplies.

Members of the Duluth, Hermantown, and Proctor Police Departments will be canvassing area high schools on Monday, March 31 to promote the use of seatbelts while in moving vehicles.

Word from social media in Esko, MN is that there is an active bomb threat at the school.

Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation are working to create Safe Routes to School for children that live within the state.  A grant program assures that funding is available for schools and their partners.

Parents who homeschool their children are invited to take part in an excellent educational opportunity that's provided by the Hartley Nature Center.  As part of their Homeschool Classes program, they offer a monthly two hour environmental education class on the third Thursday of each month from September through May.  The first of those classes is happening September 19.

Bullying has reached epidemic proportions and officials all across the country are putting measures in place to protect students. But a Wisconsin city has gone a step further by passing an ordinance which allows the parents of bullies to be fined. Does that seem fair?

A new grant facilitated by the Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks to make the route to school safer for children in the state.  MnDOT announced the recipients of $3.8 million in federal grants for Safe Routes To School.  105 schools in 61 communities will benefit - including some in our area.
