A day after being closed due to a snowstorm, it is being reported that Cloquet Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, March 17 as staff deal with a 'a very bad virus' that has caused severe technical problems for the school district that are impacting a number of vital services.

I am very lucky to have twin 5 year old grand boys that have just started kindergarten and their mom has them already writing in cursive. Then to hear that they are not teaching  it in school sounded so strange to me. I hopped on facebook and there was this story...

Right now any full time student enrolled in higher education in St. Louis County or a student from St. Louis County who is a full time student outside of the county, can apply for the Mike Colalillo Medal of honor scholarship. This scholarship pays $1000 to the recipient.

Now that the kids have headed back to school they're probably checking out their new desks, books, and lockers.  Here's something else that's new:  4th graders and their families get free admission to America's National Parks!

I had the chance to talk to John Lobosky, the VP for college advancement this morning. Tomorrow is a big day around the camput of Saint Scholastica. They are celebrating 102 years of serving the community but it is also "Give to CSS Day"

Schools in Duluth, Two Harbors, Cloquet, Carlton, and Esko were included in a recent grant-presentation from the Minnesota Department of Transportation.  The mini grants were awarded as part of MNDOT's Safe Routes To School program

Eleven students aboard a school bus in Aitkin County held on for a scary ride Wednesday as the driver of the bus suffered a medical emergency. The bus swerved wildly at between 35 and 40 miles per hour as it traveled northbound on Highway 47 after leaving the school in Isle.

When the weather forecast takes a turn for the worst in the winter, parents of school-age children know what question follows:  "Will we have school tomorrow"?  Sometimes the answer to that question is an easy "no" but often there are other factors at work that make it a difficult one to determine for school administrators.

Talk about getting use out of a set of clothes!

The Duluth Public Schools will observe their Fall Break on Thursday, October 16 and Friday, October 17.  What do you do with the kids?  One answer might be the events planned at the Duluth Public Library.

Hundreds of excited students made their way from Wheeler Field to Lincoln Park Middle School Wednesday morning as part of International Walk to School Day.

More than 40 schools statewide are participating in International Walk to School Day Wednesday, October 8, to encourage students, parents, teachers, community members and organizations to get out on sidewalks and trails. The event is anticipated to draw participation from more than 4,000 schools from all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, as well as 40 countries around the world. R
