This Saturday, October 21st, a benefit will be held for 18-year-old Mackenzie Rae Jarve of Kettle River at Bricks Pub and Grub in Wrenshall. A spaghetti fundraiser for $10 a plate along with a silent auction and bean bag tournament will help raise funds to defray the expenses incurred as a result of Mackenzie’s accident.
I had the honor of volunteering to sell those cute little red poppy flowers that are traditional seen in May. They are called a “buddy” poppy and the money collected through donations during poppy day, May 4 are used to assist the needy and disabled veterans, their families, widows and orphans of veterans. Congratulation to the PIGS Motorcycle Group, they had a second ride/rally and raffle to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The event held in 2016 was a multi-day event with bands, food, camping, a car show and more.
