Unfortunately, progress often comes with unfortunate consequences.  In an effort to improve one thing, something else must be forsaken.  The potential for impact to historical properties along the route of Highway 210's planned reconstruction project has spurred officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to hold an Open House and public meeting to listen and address those concerns.

The once-in-a-lifetime flood in the Twin Ports may have ocurred in 2012, but the repair marches on.  One project that will affect motorists in the Twin Ports area will happen Friday, October 18.  Officials with the WLSSD will continue their project to repair a portion of its Scanlon interceptor line.  This work will necessitate the closing of Becks Road for the day.

The Northland continues it's clean-up and rebuilding efforts following last summers flood.  Along with the Duluth area, one of the hardest-hit areas was just to the south around Jay Cooke State Park.  A meeting being held tonight will focus on the efforts to repair the damage to Highway 210 in the Forbay Lake Area.

A six-month rehabilitation program is nearly complete and officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation have announced that the Highway 210 Bridge at Thompson is scheduled to be re-opened in early December. Northland non-profits will see additional help in their on-going flood-recovery, following a joint donation from the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation and the Margaret A Cargill Foundation.  $500,000 - the largest outside donation to date from the agency - will address a wide-variety of needs these non-profits have.
