Duluth flood

Unfortunately, progress often comes with unfortunate consequences.  In an effort to improve one thing, something else must be forsaken.  The potential for impact to historical properties along the route of Highway 210's planned reconstruction project has spurred officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to hold an Open House and public meeting to listen and address those concerns.

The repairs are done and the Highway 210 Bridge in Jay Cooke State Park is now open for travel! Work to repair the flood damage was completed in early November.

The once-in-a-lifetime flood in the Twin Ports may have ocurred in 2012, but the repair marches on.  One project that will affect motorists in the Twin Ports area will happen Friday, October 18.  Officials with the WLSSD will continue their project to repair a portion of its Scanlon interceptor line.  This work will necessitate the closing of Becks Road for the day.

Efforts to work on a culvert at Keene Creek will detour and delay traffic starting Monday July 8th in West Duluth.  Motorists on northbound Hwy 23/Grand Ave. between Raleigh Street and Central Avenue will encounter a detour and possible delays.

It's been one year since a large storm system dropped several inches of rain on the region; leaving homes, businesses, roadways, and entire communities damaged around the Duluth/Superior region. A year later, we take a look back at some of the incredible photos and videos that left us awestruck.

The Northland continues it's clean-up and rebuilding efforts following last summers flood.  Along with the Duluth area, one of the hardest-hit areas was just to the south around Jay Cooke State Park.  A meeting being held tonight will focus on the efforts to repair the damage to Highway 210 in the Forbay Lake Area.

The June 2012 flooding caused much devastation in the Twin Ports.  One public area that sustained both damage and attention was the Lake Superior Zoo - specifically the barnyard exhibit.

About 85 people braved the cold and the rain on Saturday to celebrate the reopening of the Highway 210/Thompson Bridge.

If you've been looking for a date for the annual Knife River tour of homes - you'll have to look until next year.  The 2012 version of A Country Christmas on the North Shore has been put on hold and is taking the year off.

A six-month rehabilitation program is nearly complete and officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation have announced that the Highway 210 Bridge at Thompson is scheduled to be re-opened in early December. The severe June flood destroyed the approaches to the bridge and also destroyed a 9-foot diameter overflow culvert that is located adjacent to the bridge...

Northland non-profits will see additional help in their on-going flood-recovery, following a joint donation from the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation and the Margaret A Cargill Foundation.  $500,000 - the largest outside donation to date from the agency - will address a wide-variety of needs these non-profits have.

  Victims of the June flood will be in the spotlight on Saturday as Tailgate to Recovery happens in the "green space" between WITC and the University of Wisconsin-Superior's Marcovich Wellness Center.  A group of Superior Senior High School students have chosen to help their friends and neighbors with their Senior Project;  In conjunction with the City of Superior, the Superior-Douglas C
