One of the joys of living in Minnesota is the huge array of outdoor opportunities, including thousands of lakes, rivers, and streams for fishing. Of course, before you can get out fishing, you need to make sure you have a valid Minnesota fishing license. That process just got an awful lot easier with a new online tool!

Two yearling moose have become frequent visitors to the ditches of Highway 37 near the Cherry School;  The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is advising motorists to use caution in the area to avoid an accident.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources wants the public to know that they have extended burning restrictions to include more counties in northern Minnesota - including our area.  Lack of substantial rain or snowfall has left conditions perfect for a fire tragedy.

I'm hearing on the news that you need to get burning permits in order to burn paper or tree limbs. It's very dangerous right now with all the melting and exposed dry leaves and trees. A burning permit grants the individual holder the right to burn small amounts of dry leaves, plant clippings, brush, and clean untreated-unpainted wood as long as weather conditions do not pose a fire hazard. It seems like the Twin Ports fox population is on an upswing.  The past few years have seen fox throughout the city limits of both Duluth and Superior.  I've personally had two or three roaming my yard and I have witnessed one running down the sidewalk on Belknap in Superior.  WIld foxes have also been showing up on Park Point.  Now, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is asking resident

This is "turtle crossing season" - the time of year that northland turtles cross the road to get to their nesting areas.  As such, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds drivers to be observant and careful on roadways.
