A popular pizza chain is set to toss over 200 of its locations into the oven of closure later this year. As the dough settles, Minnesotans might be left wondering—will our favorite slice survive the cut?

That's right, if you're looking to sink your teeth into a piping hot pepperoni pie (or cheese or sausage for that matter), this popular pizza chain is probably one you've ordered from before. But they just announced that they're closing 200 store locations this year, so will any locations here in the Gopher State get the ax?

It seems like just about EVERYONE, both here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes and across the country, likes pizza, right? It doesn't just seem like it; this Harris poll confirms it. Yahoo says they surveyed over 2,000 adults last fall and determined that pizza is officially America's favorite food. (Steak and hamburgers came in second and third, btw.)

So, which pizza chain are we talking about? That would be Domino's Pizza. The Domino's website says the popular chain has been around since the '60s, when co-founder Tom Monaghan bought his brother's share of their pizzeria in Michigan and renamed it Domino's Pizza. The chain grew during the 70s and 80s and opened its first international store in Winnipeg, Canada in 1983.

Finding a Domino's Pizza location here in Minnesota isn't too tough, seeing as the chain currently operates 143 different restaurants across the Gopher State. Minneapolis has 9 locations, there are six in St. Paul and four in Duluth. You'll also find three Domino's Pizza locations in Rochester, Bloomington, and Mankato and single restaurants in 115 different Minnesota cities.

Luckily for pizza lovers in the Bold North, it appears that none of those 143 Minnesota Domino's Pizza locations will be on the chopping block. According to this AL.com story, the chain is mainly focusing on closing underperforming restaurants internationally and is set to shutter 172 Domino’s locations in Japan between April and June.

Domino's locations in other countries, such as Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Cambodia, could also be closing later this year. AL.com also noted that those closures—none of which are happening here in Minnesota—are set to save the company around $9.4 million.
