As a Minnesotan, there are a few cities that pop up in your head right away when you think about the snobbiest cities in our state. There are just some that tend to have that kind of air about them.

I wanted to see what ChatGPT thinks of Minnesota though and which towns it thinks are the snobbiest. Some of them lined up with my original thinking but there were two in particular that surprised me.

Of course, this is all in good fun! There are plenty of great people who live in these cities.

Minnesota's Snobbiest Cities

The prompt I gave ChatGPT was:

What do you think are the 10 snobbiest cities in Minnesota?

Before getting into the list, it said:

If we're talking about "snobby" cities in Minnesota, we'd probably be looking at places with higher incomes, upscale amenities, exclusive neighborhoods, and a reputation for being a bit, well... fancy.

All very true! Most of these cities I actually recently featured in an article about the most expensive small towns in Minnesota.

But let's take a look at the cities that ChatGPT determined to be the snobbiest.

10. Orono

On Lake Minnetonka and also named one of the most expensive places to live in the state, Orono takes the spot as the 10th snobbiest city in Minnesota.

9. Stillwater

This is the one that shocked me! My husband and I love visiting Stillwater and I've never gotten the vibe that it's snobby there.

ChatGPT, though, writes: "Historic, beautiful, and a little bit posh—Stillwater has an undeniable air of class." I can see the 'undeniable air of class' but to me, that's not snobby.

8. Eden Prairie

Eden Prairie is kind of turning into the new Edina from what I hear so this makes sense to be on the list.

7. Woodbury

Another one that surprised me on the list is Woodbury. It's another place that I never would have described as 'snobby' if you asked me.

However, ChatGPT says: "Polished, suburban, and full of high-end shopping and planned communities."

6. Dellwood

While Dellwood isn't on Lake Minnetonka, it is still a high-end place to live, which is why it makes sense on this list. It's also one of the most expensive places to life in Minnesota.

5. Excelsior

Back along the shores of Lake Minnetonka, Excelsior was named the 5th snobbiest city according to ChatGPT.

4. North Oaks

North Oaks is another that's not along the classically high-end Lake Minnetonka but it is one of the most expensive places to live. Putting it on the list of snobbiest cities makes sense.

3. Minnetonka

Minnetonka comes in as ChatGPT's 3rd most snobby city. It's true, if I hear of someone being from Minnetonka there's definitely an immediate judgment. It's not fair, but it's true.

2. Wayzata

The second snobbiest city is Wayzata. It's along Lake Minnetonka, is a very beautiful, high-end town, and is one of the most expensive places to live, so this makes sense.

1. Edina

And the one that everyone thinks of, at least in the Twin Cities, when you ask which town is the snobbiest, it's Edina.

The 'cake eaters' is the nickname that has been given to people from Edina so the fact that ChatGPT ranked Edina as the snobbiest city in Minnesota makes sense.

ChatGPT writes: "The classic. 'Cake Eaters' is the nickname for a reason—wealthy, prestigious schools, and plenty of designer boutiques."
