Celebrities Have a Big Impact on Business
Anytime a big celebrity wears something that we love, sales go through the roof for that particular business.
For example, in October Taylor Swift wore some super cute sparkle freckles to a Cheifs game. People figured out which small shop she got them from and everyone went NUTS for them.
It also happened when Dustin from 'Stranger Things' wore a purple Brontosaurus sweatshirt from the Science Museum of Minnesota. They had to quickly make more of those sweatshirts because everyone wanted one!
And now it's happening to the University of Minnesota.
Jin from BTS Wear University of Minnesota Sweatshirt
K-Pop star Jin, from BTS, released a solo music video a few days ago for his song 'Running Wild', and pretty quickly Minnesota fans spotted something: he wore a U of MN sweatshirt for part of the video!
People started calling the U of MN bookstore looking for the sweatshirt. The bookstore director Neil Olness talked to KARE 11 about the craziness. He said some people are even calling every day asking about it.
They couldn't figure out where the sweatshirt came from but eventually deduced that it was a design from the early 2000s... which they don't sell anymore. That's why they're panicking! Luckily, they still have the rights to it so they're currently trying to work as quickly as possible to make more.
Neil said to KARE 11, "'we're working hard to get it in store ... and we should have it in a few weeks so that we can give fans what they want.'"
The video now as over 8 million views, so I hope they're making a lot of sweatshirts! You can clearly see the sweatshirt at about 1:14 in the video.
