That’s according to a news release issued by the Minnesota U.S. Attorney’s Office on Thursday. The alleged criminal conduct occurred from June of 2017 through June of 2018.
Federal court documents accuse 39-year-old Eric Phillip Allen of using at least one minor in his care at a Minneapolis daycare to create child pornography.
The Minneapolis man also alleged to have taken several photos of children he was tasked with caring for and using the pictures to produce child pornography.
Allen was formally charged in federal court on Thursday with one count of production of child pornography. The news release says he’s facing similar state charges in Hennepin County Court.
Allen was taken into custody by Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) agents in that case, in which he’s alleged to have taken nude photos of the children, earlier this month.
Allen was ordered to be held in the Sherburne County Jail following his initial appearance. He’s due back in federal court next week.
The news release does not state the daycare provider that employed Allen. Authorities believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone whose children may have been in contact with Allen to contact the BCA’s Tip Line at 1-877-996-6222 or email bca.tips@state.mn.us.
