A massive muskie was just caught out on Lake Mille Lacs, and it sounds like this fish could be a world record. Art Weston landed the big fish back in October, but photos of the behemoth are starting to make the rounds online and WOW.

Art Weston recently landed this massive 57.5-inch (138-centimeter) muskellunge to potentially set the IGFA All-Tackle Length World Record for the species. Art was fishing on October 29, 2024 on Mille Lacs in Garrison, Minnesota when this massive muskie struck his lure. After recording the length on his official IGFA measuring device, Art was able to release the fish safely. This record is currently pending and under review.

The shared photo above came from the International Game Fish Association on social media, but OutdoorLife.com has a full article on the fishing trip that you can read here.

"On Tuesday, just before midnight, Weston caught and released a true Lake Mille Lacs monster. “It was like a Mack truck grabbed my lure and headed the opposite direction,” Weston says. “I think I let out an audible ‘Oof’ sound when it struck.”"

The possible world record fish was caught just after midnight on Tuesday October 29th as Weston teamed up with Nolan Sprengeler on the catch. Sprengeler has been also known to land a big fish or two, as he set the Minnesota record back in 2021, with a monster also caught in Mille Lacs.

Earlier this summer someone on Reddit posted a photo of a massive muskie also caught on Lake Mille Lacs, maybe it was the same fish, as the Redditor claims the muskie in the photo was 54".

Regardless, it's great to see big fish coming out of and then back into Lake Mille Lacs, no matter the time of year.
