Scared? Central Minnesota Hotel Offering Up A Ghost Tour
If you like to live on the edge, a Central Minnesota hotel, 30 minutes from Saint Cloud, is hosting a ghost tour at the end of April. Fans of the occult should be familiar with the hotel, The Thayer, which is in Annandale. Are you interested in the tour? Here's what you'll need to know.
The ghost tours happen at the end of the month, and are at two different times, 6pm and 8pm. The tours are led by Search 4 Spirits. You can enjoy the tour every month as they are held every last Wednesday of the month. According to the hotel's website, "the tours discuss the history of the Thayer, as well as some of the experiences from people in the Thayer’s history."
The tours will set you back $25 per person, BUT you can save $10 with a receipt that shows you had dinner at the hotel that evening.
A Brief History Of The Thayer
"The history of the Thayer begins with a fire in 1894, which burned down the Thayer’s predecessor, the Charles Hotel, aka, the Annandale House. One year after the Annandale fire, in 1895, the Hotel was rebuilt, through funding from both the Soo Railroad Company as well as Albert Augustus “Gus” Thayer. The newly built hotel was named the Thayer Hotel, but was still known to many in the area as the Annandale house."
Is The Hotel Really Haunted?
Some say it is, and they are doing ghost tours...so draw your own conclusions from that. But according to MinnesotaHauntedHouses.com the hotel may be inhabited by " a few ghosts, including a little girl, a spirit bride, and two cats. The owner's husband is also said to linger in spirit, as well as the place's two original owners."
One Recent Thayer Stay
On the social media page Life in Minnesota, a recent stay at the Thayer was highlighted. Here is a portion of that online story from Life in Minnesota:
"After having dinner in the restaurant downstairs (the hotel has excellent food), we "retired" back to our room, and noted how noisy the place was between 8-10 p.m. In addition to the train next to the hotel going by every hour or so, we heard a lot of people in the hallway, including kids running up and down the hall giggling and laughing (we were on the second floor near the staircase--there are three floors to the hotel). We kept thinking, 'Why are there so many kids here?' as generally each room could only accommodate two people, and the place doesn't have a pool or other kid-friendly amenities. We were a little annoyed as the kids were really loud with their stomping and giggling. The next day we had breakfast and went on our way. Well, according to the hotel staff, no kids were running up and down the hallway between 8-10 p.m. on Saturday night! At least not living ones."
**Goosebumps**
Personally, I don't think I could do a haunted hotel for an overnight stay, a tour I could handle, but no thanks for having an uninvited guest floating on through my room.
