Did This Popular Minnesota Viking Just Tell Fans Goodbye?
We are a week away from the Super Bowl; it's coming up next Sunday night, February 9th. With the Vikings out of the playoffs, it's natural for Vikings players to thank fans and teammates for a great season. One Viking, who began the season as more of a placeholder than a starter, just wrote his season-ending post, and you've got to wonder if it's the last one he writes as a Viking.
This season's QB1 was eventually supposed to be J.J. McCarthy, who the Vikings drafted in the first round, but in the interim, NFL Journeyman QB Sam Darnold would fill the position until J.J. was ready.
Well, a knee injury to McCarthy ended that plan in the preseason, which meant that the Vikings would be all in on Darold. Fans across the #BoldNorth were unsure what to think about the season, knowing Darnold hadn't splashed in the NFL as he did at USC.
Sam led the Vikings to a 14-3 regular season and a wild card playoff game. It was a magical ride that lasted the entire regular season for fans of the purple and gold. It seems that Sam might have played his last game as a Viking, he took to Instagram to thank fans and teammates for a great season, but it leaves you wondering if this is goodbye.
Here's what Sam wrote on Instagram:
Year 7… So grateful for my teammates, coaches, and the entire organization. We created memories and relationships that will last a lifetime and we got to do it in front of the best fanbase in the world #SKOL What was really cool about the post from Sam on Insta was that all of his teammates wrote something back to him.

So what is Sam going to be doing with his time in the off season? Apparently discovering birds and their bird calls.
@nflondazn Sam Darnold is one with the birds. 😂 (h/t _hoofy/IG, Vikings/x) #nfl #minnesotavikings #samdarnold #birdchirping #football #skolvikings ♬ original sound - NFL on DAZN
If this was it for the year of Darnold in Minnesota, thanks for the memories Sammy!
