A long-running Minnesota festival made a triumphant return in 2023 after an eight-year break. Now in its third year back, the organizers have just released the lineup for this summer.

Started on the grounds of the State Capitol in St. Paul in 1983, the festival quickly grew into one of the biggest events in Minnesota. It drew hundreds of thousands of people each year for the music, and the main highlight, the food.

A Festival With Deep Minnesota Roots

The Taste of Minnesota has seen its ups and downs. It took its first hiatus in 2010 and remained on hold until 2014 due to financial challenges. It returned in 2014 for two years but disbanded after the 2015 event.

A New Chapter in Downtown Minneapolis

Fast-forward to 2025: the event is back and seems to be finding its footing again as a popular Minnesota celebration. Now located in Downtown Minneapolis on Nicollet Mall, the family-friendly, free event drew around 100,000 people in its first year back.

What to Expect in 2025

The two-day culinary and music festival will be held July 5 and 6. This year’s headliners include Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Cheap Trick on Saturday, while Ludacris and NUR-D will take the stage on Sunday. Each day will also feature a lineup of local and regional acts.

Hours and Admission

The Taste of Minnesota will be open each day from Noon until 10 PM. While it is a free event, organizers ask that you RSVP here. They say it helps "gauge attendance and help chefs and vendors prepare." No ticket is required for entry.
