Silver Bay Residents Told To Not Use Water Following ‘Significant Break’
The City of Silver Bay issued an alert for residents late Tuesday morning, declaring a "temporary public water emergency" in the city.
The alert comes following what Silver Bay city officials describe as a "significant break" in the city's high-pressure water main. The break is creating significant issues with the city's water system.
As of the initial announcement from the city around 11 am, there was no specified cause for the main break.
The break is reportedly limiting the city's ability to pump water, which is creating impacts on the water tower reserves. As of the time of the alert from the city, they are asking all residents and businesses on the city's water system to stop using water immediately, until further notice.
The message from city officials says crews are working hard on getting repairs made to the water main. While work is underway to make repairs and get the system functioning once again, there is no timetable provided as of Tuesday morning.
In the interim, city officials say the water emergency and request for all residents and businesses to not use their water will remain in effect until further notice. In the city's message about the water emergency, they did thank residents for their patience and apologized for the inconvenience.
Any further updates on timeframes or when locals in Silver Bay will be able to resume using water are expected to be delivered via the City of Silver Bay's website. On the homepage of their website is a yellow message about the temporary public water emergency. Right below that is where a link to any subsequent updates will be made available.
